Leonard Acree, 87, of Summerville, entered into rest Tuesday, September 27, 2011.

He was born May 9, 1924 in Clay. He was the son of the late Joseph Verner and Nancy Margaret Woods Acree. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Nottingham Acree, sisters, Oleta Pauley and Jeraldine Bays.

He worked for Elk River Coal and Lumber Company in Swandale and Widen, Core of Engineers on Locks at Belpre Ohio and Summersville Dam, FMC Corporation in South Charleston and Cedar Coal Company Chelyan. Retired in 1984. 21st degree Mason.

Leonard is survived by his daughter, Julia (Stephen) Brown of Montgomery, grandson, Lennie Brown of Tucson, brother, Charles Ovid Acree of Enoch 3 nephews and 2 nieces.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, September 30, 2011 at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Tom Price officiating, Burial will be in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay.

Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
