Madge Young Conner, 96, of Maysel, entered into rest May 16, 2010, at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
Born on October 12, 1913, in Flat Fork, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian Bragg Young. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Inez Russell, and husband, Noble E. Conner.
She was a retired school teacher, having taught 27 years in Clay County, 2 years in Nicholas County and 8 years in Fayette County. She was a member of Maysel Missionary Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Francis Chapter, the Rebekah Lodge, the Oriental Shrine, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Retired School Employee's Association, the Clay Women's Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. Though her accomplishments were many, her greatest joy was in making a difference in the lives of children.
Survivors include her daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry L. and Doug Davis of Washington and Brenda Rider Sirk of Maysel; four grandchildren, Jeff Rider of Clay, Beth Beebe, Aaron Davis, and Chad Sirk all of Parkersburg; three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be1 pm Wednesday, May 19, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Ministers Larry Skaggs and Carl Burrows officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes, WV.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a children's charity of your choice.
