Jackie W. Samples, 68, of Procious, went home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2008, after a long battle with leukemia.
Jackie was a loving husband, father, brother, papaw, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him.
Born on July 31, 1939, he was the son of the late Gail and Helen Samples. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Samples King.
He was retired from the Department of Highways with 23 years of service. He also delivered the Charleston Daily Mail with his wife, Mary, for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Keenan Samples of Procious; children, Jackie Samples of Servia, Andy Samples and Chad Samples, both of Procious; brothers, Roger Samples of Hometown, Lonnie Samples of Bomont, Teddy Samples and David Samples, both of Procious; sisters, Bobbie Nichols of Cincinnati, OH, and Nancy Beezel of Clarksburg; grandchildren, Meagan, Holly, Derrick, Jeremy, Josh, Kati, Tayler, Madison, Tristan, Auston, and Isaiah.
Graveside service will be 6 pm Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Long Sam Samples Cemetery, Procious, with Ministers David Walker and Clifford Samples officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm on Wednesday at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay.
