Vera Lea (Ramsey) Vance, 74, of Lizemores, entered in peace Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at her home surround by her family, she had a larger than life personality and trademark stubbornness that will not be forgotten. She had an overabundance of charisma, charm and feistiness, always told you the truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.  Vera was generous to a fault and yet she sugar coated absolutely nothing.  She had a love for gardening and  a passion for rock hunting and scavenging for treasures.

Born January 26, 1942 in Wheeling, she was the daughter of the late Watson and Mary (Griffin) Ramsey.

Vera leaves behind a legacy of love, honesty and family; sons, Paul Holcomb of Indore, Michael Holcomb of Lizemores, Dana Holcomb of Big Otter and Jonathan Holcomb of Indore; daughters, Carol Jarvis of Bickmore and Victoria Vance Brown of Lizemores; twelve grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Ramsey of Bickmore and William Ramsey of Indore; sisters, Hazel Stewart of Bickmore, Bertha Stewart of Craigsville and Sarah Taylor of Clendenin.

Graveside service will be held 1:30 P.M. Sunday, September 18, 2016, at the Vera Vance Family Cemetery, Lizemores, with Minister Dean Rogers officiating.

Vera will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family, friends and neighbors.

I am sorry to hear about Vera. I hadn't saw her since we were young. She was always nice to me and had a great personality. So sorry for your loss.

I am saddened to hear of your Vera's passing. May you all be comforted knowing that your mother is resting in peace. Hang on to your memories of your mother. Having just lost my mother and knowing she is in a better place helps.
