Violet Murphy, 92, of Moorefork, entered into rest Monday, October 30, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Born February 28, 1925 in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Gay and Maud Metheney. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Murphy; son, Dana Murphy; sister, Sylvia Butler; brothers, Tedro  and Russell Metheney.
Violet and her late husband Oscar were members of the Otter Vale Church for over 50 years, she taught Sunday school class and card class for over 40 years. They loved going to church and serving the Lord.
Violet is survived by her sons, Charles Murphy and Robert (Bob) Murphy of Duck; sisters, Opal Rogers of Creston, OH., Virginia Cook of Ivydale; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Rick Samms officiating. Burial will be in Moorefork Cemetery, Moorefork.
Friends may gather with family from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, November 4, at the funeral home.

So sorry for your loss. I always thought a lot of Vinie. She was very good to me and all my family. I will miss seeing her when I come to Moore Fork.

My grandma was a hard working kind and loving women she gave of herself continuously throughout her life she always strived to do her best for all of us no matter how much it meant she had to sacrifice i will miss her always i love you grandma
