Fred Sampson, 87, of Ivydale, entered into rest Thursday, November 16, 2017.
Born September 7, 1930 in Roane County, he was the son of the late Herman and Bessie (Nichols) Sampson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Herman, Charles and Jack Sampson.
Fred is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Sampson; sister, Annabelle Davis; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Big Otter Baptist Church, Ivydale.  Burial will be in the Douglas Cemetery, Ivydale.
Friends may gather with family two hours prior to the funeral service at the church.

Elizabeth (and Family): It was an honor and privilege to work with you and Fred over many years and with many causes. I was stunned and surprised to hear this news and Fred will be missed greatly by all of us who try to "Make A Difference" and be a Force for Good during challenging times. Fred would want you to keep hope alive and I wish you the health to keep up the good fight. Please convey my sympathy and the sympathy from the SALS Family to all.

I did not have the good fortune to know Fred well, but on the occasions I was around him is was always readily apparent what a kind person he was. I was privileged to be around him, although too infrequent. My best to Elizabeth.
