Leona P. Sams Wehrle

Leona P. Sams Wehrle, 85, of Procious, went to be with her Lord and savior early Monday morning, March 4th, 2024. Born on September 19th, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Leona Dobbins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband James Adrian Sams, her late husband Raymond L Wehrle, her brothers Ostel “Bub” Dobbins, Byrne Dobbins, Paul Dobbins, Virgil Dobbins, Dennie Dobbins, Harry Dobbins Jr., and her sisters Margie Conway, Myrtle Short, Mary Shamblin, and Wanda Dobbins.  

Leona is survived by her brothers Donald Dobbins and Arthur “Doc” Dobbins of Procious, her sisters Dottie Orders of Elkview, Gloria Cantrell, Allie Childers, Francis Hosey, and Alice Dobbins of Procious, her children James “Jimmy” Sams (Shayne) of Procious, Jeffery Sams (Betty) of Queen Shoals, Teresa Lane (Jeff) of Procious, Danny Sams (Sug) of Clendenin, and Mary Beth Dorsey (Michael) of Maysel. In addition, Leona is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great children, nieces and nephews. 

During her lifetime, Leona was a Godly woman who loved the Lord and was devoted to prayer and to the care of others. She was a loving wife and mother who was adored by all who knew her. Her achievements in life cannot be named in a list, but rather are forever written on the hearts of those she cared for and those she cooked for. 

We would like to thank the staff at Montgomery Rehab and Nursing for the love and care that they provided for our mother. 

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 8th, at the Sams Cemetery, Procious, WV, with Pastor Clarence Deel officiating.
