Mary Pauline Osborne, of Clay, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
She was born September 16, 1921 in Kanawha Co. WV., to the late Lon and Maude Sarver Droddy.
Pauline lost her mother at the age of 3 and was cared for by grandparents and aunts in Roane Co.
She married Hoy O. Osborne in 1940, in 1958, her husband started a pallet and wood container business. Hoy passed away in 1978. Pauline continued to work as secretary and treasurer. The Osborne's enjoyed the work as it provided jobs for people in Clay and Nicholas County. They would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. They loved Clay County and its people.
Pauline was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Summersville. She also
attended the Clay First Baptist Church. In her Earlier years, she was active in professional women's business organization, garden club, and the Rebekahs. She was best know for her artistic penmanship.
She is survived by her loving children, H Kellis Osborne, and his wife Linda, Ramonda Osborne Stanard and her husband Kelley, grandchildren Kelli Osborne Samples and her husband Todd, John B. Osborne and his wife Kari, and step granddaughter Valarie Stanard.
Her greatest joy in her last years were her great-grandchildren Gracen Samples, Ely Osborne, Justin Samples, and Ganon Osborne.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Lennis Osborne, sisters-in-law, Grace Brown,
Carolyn Gray and Ruby Pritt.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Pastor Robert Michael officiating. Burial will be in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
