Earl "Bill" Triplett Obituary

Earl Glen "Bill" Triplett age 88 of Triplett Ridge passed away November 10, 2022, of a short illness.  Born June 25, 1934, to the late Banes Triplett and Mary Igo Triplett.  He was preceded in death by 8 brothers, 4 sisters, 2 children, 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild. He is survived by his loving companion Carol Siers, children Sandi, Randy (Loretta), Roger (Trish), 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Raised on Triplett Ridge, he taught himself to play bluegrass guitar while working the family farm. He bought his first Harmony guitar at the age of 15 for $25. An auto mechanic by trade, he owned and operated the Clay Service Center in the town of Clay before building his own garage on the ridge. He was drafted into the army after the Korean conflict and served our great nation. He was one of the first members of the Clay Ambulance service as an EMT.  Bill was also one of the first members of the Clay County Apple Festival Committee receiving the Living Legend Award in 2018. He MC'd the Big Otter Community Center where his band "Big Otter Bluegrass" was started. With his many achievements in his life, his greatest loves were his family, his music, his Martin D-28 and all his "picking buddies." He will forever be our Bluegrass Legend and will be greatly missed by many.
