Evelyn (James) Rogers

Evelyn James Rogers, 100, of Albemarle, NC, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Mrs. Rogers was born on February 11, 1922, in Frametown, WV, to the late William Ransom James and Lelah Mamie Flint James. Evelyn was an avid reader and long-time quilter. She was preceded in death by her husband Orval Dennis Rogers and daughter Linda Denise Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her seven younger siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her children, Judy Ringler (Kenneth), Michael Rogers (Stephanie) and Kathy Hilton (James); grandchildren, Melissa Lawson (Douglas), Christopher Rogers (Kelly), Valerie Hilton (Eric Compton), Jennifer Hilton and Erika Hilton; and great-grandchildren Joshua Lawson, Daniel Lawson, Jeremiah Butler, Deakin Watkins, Evelyn Compton, Elizabeth Compton, and step great-grandchildren Ava Compton and Rowen Compton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Wilson-Smith Funeral Home, 154 Main Street, Clay, WV 25043. Graveside service will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wallback, WV. Visitors will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
