Hannah Jane Bird (née Barker), 77, of Lizemores, entered into rest on Sunday, April 24, 2022, in Morgantown after a short illness.
Born Sunday, December 31, 1944, in Lizemores, West Virginia, she was the daughter of William Marcellis Barker, Sr. and Ollie Mayflower Ramsey.
Jane was a homemaker who loved when her children and grandchildren came to visit. Anytime one of us stopped by, she would immediately go to the kitchen to start cooking a meal. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, James Dow Bird, Sr., who was an Air Force veteran, a truck driver, a coal miner, and a retired mine inspector for the State of West Virginia.
She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly "Peachi" (Calvin) Workman of Bentree, and Angela "Angi" (Tobby) Mitchell of Bomont, her sons, James D. "Jimmy" (Tona) Bird, Jr. of Twistabout, and Dustin "Dusty" (David Starcher) of Lizemores, and her adopted son, Justen Burdette of Hawaii. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Robbie (Jessica), Sam (Alisha), Amy (Arthur “Sparky”), Tyler (Ivy), Tristan (Charley), Gracelyn, and several great grandchildren.
We will have a celebration of her life on May 2, 2022, Friends may call from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday at the Wilson Smith Funeral Home, Clay, WV. Please bring any photos or memories so we can celebrate this wonderful lady's life.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday May 3, 2022, at Wilson-Smith Funeral Home in Clay, with Rev. Barry McCune officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore.
