Jackie Argabrite Obituary

Jackie Argabrite

Guilford Lake, Ohio-Jackie C. Argabrite, 88, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Jack was born on April 10, 1936, in Clay, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Ledra and Pearl Argabrite. After leaving home, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in Florida, Colorado, and abroad.

He was a thirty-eight-year employee of General Motors Automobile plant in Lordstown, Ohio where he worked as an electrician.

He also spent many years as a local farmer raising various crops and livestock. He and his wife, Charlotte, brought their children to the country after living in Cleveland, Ohio. They wanted them to experience a simpler life, as they had when they were growing up in West Virginia. Baling hay, raising long-horned Herefords, and providing for his family from what was raised on the farm, these are the things that brought him the most joy.

Jack’s interests were varied. He loved being out on the water whether it was cruising with Charlotte on Lake Erie or putting around Guilford Lake in his pontoon boat. He loved talking about cars and researching what the newest cars on the market had to offer him. He was always up for a game of cards whether it was with his children and grandchildren or after work with the guys at the plant.

For many years Jack was an active member of the New Lisbon Masonic Lodge #65 where he served in various roles including that of Worthy Master. He also held the position of district education officer for which he was very proud.

Jack was a member of the Lisbon United Methodist Church for many years.

He was preceded in death in 2020 by, Charlotte, his wife of sixty-two years. Together they raised three children, Lionel (Roxanne) Argabrite of Westerville, Ohio, Sonya (Kirk) Johnson of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Andrea Argabrite of Lisbon. Jack had two granddaughters, Samantha (Chris) McMahon of Bristow, Virginia, and Kaylan (Ray) Dezeeuw of Fredericksburg, Virginia. He had three great grandsons, Connor and Kaiden McMahon and Ryder Dezeeuw.

Jack also leaves behind many loved ones in West Virginia including his sisters Anna Margaret (the late Richard) Cadle, Susie (Rick) Campbell, and Linda (Ronnie) Schaffer. Jack was preceded in death by sisters Brenda (Kent) Dobbins and Karolyn Kay Williams and brothers Damon Argabrite and Carl (Sue) Argabrite.

A graveside service will be held at the Duffield Cemetery in Duck, West Virginia on Saturday, October 26th at 2:00pm.
