Janet Canfield Obituary

Janet Katherine (McCune) Canfield, cherished wife, mother, mamaw, and great-mamaw, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on January 19, 2025, at home in Harrison, West Virginia, surrounded by her loving husband of almost 67 years.

Born on May 17, 1940, in Harrison, West Virginia, to the late Howard and Ivy (Taylor) McCune, Janet lived a life marked by compassion, generosity, and love for all her family.  As a devout Christian, her priority was to see all her family be saved.  She spent many years as a Sunday School Teacher, church volunteer, and she loved to cook for the many mission groups they would have at Lighthouse Baptist Mission in Ivydale, WV.

Janet bowled many bowling leagues throughout the years in Elyria, Ohio, and won many awards and trophies with her long- time team "All in the Family."  She had a long career as a bakery manager and took pride in all the cakes and pies she made.  She loved cooking and baking large meals for her family, church, and community.  Janet loved singing with her husband, brother, Earl McCune, and nephew, Boyd McCune, and at church.  She loved her shopping trips and family outings, but her most cherished of all was her children coming home to visit with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her devoted husband, William Canfield, of Harrision; her children, Rick (Sheila) Canfield of Harrison, Brad (DeeDee) Canfield of Crossville, TN, Angela (Richard) Ferrebee of Elyria, OH, and Desi (Frankie Dale) Facemire of Dille; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and her last surviving sibling, Charlie McCune, currently in a nursing home in Fairmont, WV.  She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, and parents, Howard and Ivy (Taylor) McCune of Harrison, WV.

Proverbs 31:28-29 "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'"

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Freddie and Janie Schoolcraft, for all their visits, phone calls, and especially the love and prayers.
