Obituary

Jerry Lee Truman, age 72 of Maysel, West Virginia passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2023.

He was born on June 24, 1951, to the late Ray and Dulcie (Rogers) Truman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Virgil Truman.

Jerry is survived by his best friend and soul mate, Mary (Starcher) Truman; his four children, Shirley Gray of Weston, WV, Gary (Joe) and Meleke Rucker of Coshocton, Oh, Donna and Jay Truman of Apple Creek, Oh, Laura (Lori) and Geoffrey Williams of Maysel, WV, Mary Ellen and Allen Barron of Blue Knob Road, Maysel, WV.  Jerry (Papaw) was loved dearly by his 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella May Markle of Lizemores, WV and Phyllis Legg of Bickmore, WV; many nieces and nephews.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and for his love of his family can still be felt all around them. He will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew him.

The funeral service will be 3:00 pm, Friday, September 1, 2023, at Wilson Smith Funeral Home, Clay, WV, with Minister Barry Browning officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay, WV.
