Johnny "JB" Bodkins

Johnny Brooks “JB” Bodkins entered into rest on January 17, 2025, at Hospice Hubbard House West in South Charleston, WV.

He was a loving husband and devoted family man with a kind heart and a giving spirit who always put the needs of others above his own. He was known for his work ethic, his compassionate nature and his teasing sense of humor.

Born on April 24, 1947, JB was raised by his parents Edgar and Madeline Bodkins at Indore along with his 3 brothers and 4 sisters. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Jimmy and Tom and brother- in- law Bob Stone.

His parents’ love of Christ and their humble acts of service for others formed the foundation for the way that JB would live his life.

JB married the love of his life, Barbara (Stone), on November 10, 1966. Their relationship served as a reminder to all around them that true love does exist. They stood side-by-side together here on earth and their bond will last for eternity.

JB is survived by his loving wife Barbara of 58 years and their three children, Tina (Aaron), Jason (Cindy), and Jimmy (Susan); grandchildren, Madie, Katie, Jonah (Lahdini), Jamison, Owen, Hannah (Hunter), Jakob, Eli and Macy; great-grandchildren, Colton, Callie, Sloane, Lani and Briar.

Other survivors include his brother, Jerry (Tonia); sisters, Beverly (Fred), Debbie, Pam (Gene) and Candy (Roger). Also, by his brothers- in- law and sisters-in-law, David, Carol (Gary), Dorothy (John), Christine (Frank), and Rita Stone.

JB was a US Army Veteran. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at multiple mines in WV until his retirement in 2010.

JB’s memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends and all those who were honored to have known him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Lizemores United Methodist Church with Pastor Barry McCune and Pastor Richard Harold officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore, WV.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service.
