Loetta Mae Adkins, 62, entered into rest on November 9, 2025, after battling a short illness.
She was born July 11, 1963, to the late Richard and Inez Samples. Loetta married Delbert Adkins, whom she loved fiercely for the last 44 years. He was undoubtedly her “favorite,” and she never failed to tell anyone that. She was an in-home health caregiver for many years before becoming a community healthcare worker for Community Care of WV. Taking care of people is what she did best. She genuinely cared about everyone she met. Family was everything to her. She cherished every minute spent with those she loved—from big holiday gatherings to swimming in Buffalo Creek. It all meant the world to her.
Loetta is survived by her husband, Delbert Adkins, and their children: Dustin (Mandy) Adkins of Parkersburg, WV, Derrick Adkins of Ansted, WV, Joseph (Olivia) Adkins of Elkview, WV, and Jordan (Stephanie) Adkins, of Wallback, WV; grandchildren Dane, Maris, Ryder, Kirby, Kennedy, Emma, Paisley, Maggie, Liam, Millie, Fiona, Noah, Kirra, and Gabe. She is also survived by her siblings: Terry Samples, Norma Miller, and Helen Preast; numerous nieces and nephews; and her church family at Buffalo Valley Baptist Church.
Loetta was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Uldrich; son, Shawn Adkins; and daughter-in-law, Sarah Adkins.
Funeral service will be at 12pm on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Wilson Smith Funeral Home in Clay, WV with Pastor Doug Newell officiating. Visitation prior to the service will be from 10am-12pm. Burial will follow at the Adkins Cemetery in Dog Run, WV.
