Luella Kay Humphrey, 70, of Belva, West Virginia, passed away on 09 January 2022. She was born to parents Ermal and Howard May, on 06 October 1951 in Parkersburg, WV.
She graduated from Gauley Bridge High School in 1969 and worked for many years helping run the family wielding business with her late husband. She later obtained her phlebotomist certification before settling into a long career as a state employee until she retired.
She enjoyed had a passion for reading books, crocheting, playing computer games, but most of all being a mother to her two sons and eventually becoming a grandmother to four granddaughters.
The family would like to thank all those who have helped Mom, whether it was providing care, bringing food, or just checking on her at various times. Thank you.
Luella was preceded in death by her mother, Ermal May (Hicks), father Howard May, husband Gary L. Humphrey, father-in-law Clifford Humphrey, and sister-in-law Connie Humphrey.
Luella is survived by her sons Matt Humphrey of Washington, DC; John Humphrey of Belva, mother-in-law Grace Humphrey of Alta, brother-in-law Michael Humphrey of Clendenin, nieces Christina Humphrey of Montgomery and Mary Humphrey of Smithers; cousins Roger McKee of Weston and Roanna Stump of Grantsville, and Aunt Gineal Drake or Belphre, OH; 4 granddaughters, and countless friends and other loved ones.
The family has entrusted Pennington-Smith Funeral Home with the arrangements. A service is scheduled for Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 12:00pm at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Timothy Young will officiate the ceremony.
