Mary “Pauline” Matheney White Taylor, 92 entered into rest on November 2, 2025 at home.
Born on January 24, 1933, at Odessa, WV to the late Bolton and Nora (Walker) Matheney. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Okey F. White and second husband Doyle B. Taylor; son Robin “Bob” White; grandson, Chad Duffield; sisters, Doris Mullins, Lilly Carter, Helen Nichols, Anna Light and brothers, James and Thomas Matheney.
She is survived by daughters, Mary (Jay) Bledsoe, Anita (Phillip) Martin and Edie (Dave) Ramsey; Twelve grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; stepchildren, Mary Katherine King, Susan Haltzclaw and Brian Taylor.
She was a long-time member of Ida Baptist Church, a member of Ladies VFW Auxiliary Post 4419 and a part time clerk at Bentree Post Office. She was devoted to her Lord and Savior, deeply loved her family and her neighbors and community.
She loved making candy and goodies for her friends and neighbors as well. She was an avid reader and instilled the same love of books in her children and would share her love of books with anyone who was interested. She was also the family “Historian”. She knew who was related to who, whose kids belonged where and how everyone fit into the family tree.
Memorial service will be at 7:00 pm, Thursday November 6, 2025, at Wilson Smith Funeral Home, Clay, WV with Earl Elliott officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date in the family cemetery in Valley Fork, WV.
