Michael John Gunning, age 67, passed away at home April 2nd after a long illness. He was born December 17, 1954, in Montgomery, the son of the late John Gunning and Jean Gunning. He graduated from Gauley Bridge High School.
Michael john was a coal miner, a roof bolter, and mine foreman for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching ball games on tv. He married Mary “Crickett” Skidmore on August 31, 1985. They had one son JW (Gabby), and one Grandson John Bennett “JB”, in which he was very proud.
Mike was preceded in death by his father John Gunning, and his sister Linda Gunning Morris. He is survived by wife Mary “Crickett” Gunning, son JW Gunning, grandson JB, and Mother Jean Gunning. Michael John was a quiet man with many friends. He will be sadly missed.
Services will be held Friday April 8 at the Pennington Funeral Home in Gauley Bridge. Visitation will be open to the public from 12-1 pm, followed by a funeral procession at 1 pm. Burial will follow at the Montgomery Memorial Park, in London WV.
