Michael H. Hunt

Michael Hanley Hunt, age 64, of Amma, West Virginia, passed away on May 25, 2022, after battling a long-term illness.  

Mike was born on June 29, 1957, the eldest son of Hanley and Helen Sutton Hunt of Wallback, WV.  After graduating from Clay County High School in 1976, he began working in the field of oil rigging.  

Mike had an adventurous, creative spirit.  He loved the outdoors and spent much of his time in the mountains. He especially enjoyed time spent at his family camp in Upshur County where he was an avid hunter.  He had a keen interest in fast cars and four wheeling.  Mike was a skilled and gifted woodworker who dedicated hours to creating pieces of art that could be both used and displayed.   

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Hanley Hunt (1994) and his mother, Helen Sutton Hunt (2022).  He is survived by his daughter, Summer Linger-Hunt (Christie), of Charleston and his sister, Margaret “Sis” Bowman, of Wallback.   

Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on June 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm with the Reverend James Paxton officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s name to Wallback Methodist Church P.O. Box 62 Wallback, WV  25285.
