Naomi June Bauer Holcomb, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on December 25, 2023, at Montgomery Elderly Care. Born on June 15, 1927 at Birch Run, Clay County WV. Naomi lived a life marked by love and dedication.
She was the daughter of George G. and Lula Truman Bauer. In her journey through life, Naomi was preceded in death by her devoted husband Berkley Eugene Holcomb; her siblings, George Bauer, Jr., David Bauer, John Bauer, Beulah Bauer, half-brother Henry Bauer, and half-sisters Rosa Freer, Leona Oakley, Virginia Wickline and Olive Weese. Additionally, she mourned the loss of her infant son, Berkley E. Holcomb Jr., son-in-law Gerry Jarrett, granddaughters Allison Wilson and Jody Thomas and great grandson Sawyer Grose.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother Carl Bauer and her five devoted daughters: Connie Jarrett, Nancy Thomas (Danny), Joyce Shearer (Pat), Brenda Parcell (George) and Judy Buzzard (Tony); ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Naomi’s early education began at Birch Run Grade School. She later graduated from Clay County High School in 1947 and further pursued her education at Marshall University. Naomi’s passion for education led her to teach at Birch Run School.
On August 21, 1948, Naomi united in marriage with Berkley Eugene Holcomb, marking the beginning of a life long partnership filled with love, laughter and countless cherished memories. Naomi was a steadfast Christian and a member of Clay First Baptist Church. Her faith shone brightly in her daily life.
A visitation in Naomi’s honor will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Wilson Smith Funeral Home. Her funeral service will commence at 1:00 pm at the same location. Following the funeral, a graveside ceremony will take place at Reedy Cemetery at Bickmore, WV.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Montgomery Elderly Care for the exceptional care and compassion they provided Naomi in her final years.
Naomi’s legacy of love, faith and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
