Randy Allen "Payton" Ramsey 72 of Ivydale, WV passed away peacefully December 26, 2024 after a long illness. He was born September 16, 1952 to Arnold and Ellie Ramsey of Ivydale. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Haynes Construction and eventually retired from the WV Department of Highways. He then spent his retired days fishing and kayaking with his grandsons. Payton attended Groves Creek Church and Big Otter Baptist Church.
He is preceded into death by his parents Arnold and Ellie Ramsey, sister Sharon Nichols and brothers Charles "Shaker" Ramsey, Rick "BB" Ramsey and Larry Ramsey.
Payton is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Betty Jo Ramsey. Son Eric Ramsey of Ivydale, Donnie Friend (Melissa) of Maysel and daughter Missy Dawn Friend (Timmy) of Jodie. Grandchildren who were his pride and joy Kalep and Charlie Cottrill, Dalton Ramsey, Waylon Friend, Mady Schoonover and Aubree, Collin and Averee Nichols. Sister Shirley Baird of Frametown, Brothers Sam Ramsey of Ivydale and Paul (Cheryl) Ramsey of PA. Special young men who he considered his grandsons Andrew Tanner, Logan Lautzenheiser, Jonah Moore, Isiah Morris, Jonathan Gandee, Mason Wray, Mason Clark and Riley Jarvis. Two special young ladies that he considered as his granddaughters, Ryan Adkins and Tyler Martini.
The family wishes to thank WV Home Health and Kanawha Hospice Amy Summers, Becky Duffield, Mary Canfield, Amber Fitzwater for the loving care that they showed to Payton and the family in his time of need. Very special thanks to his doctor that was like a daughter to him, Vicki Dobbins.
Graveside service will be Monday December 30, 2024, at 12:00pm at Ramsey Cemetery Ivydale, WV with Tobby Mitchell officiating.
