Rex Allen Pierson, 68, of Clay, WV departed this Earth and went to his Heavenly Home on January 15, 2026. He was born January 28, 1957, to Paige and Helen Pierson.
Rex was the most awesome husband, grandfather, father, brother, and friend. Rex was a coal miner for 42 years, retiring from Brooks Run Mining in 2016.
Rex is preceded in death by his loving parents Paige and Helen Pierson, Father and Mother-In-Law Bobby and Patsy Dorsey, and son Jonathan (Big D) Duffield. He is survived by the light of his life for the last 25 years, Beverly Pierson. He is also survived by brothers Paige (Becky) Pierson of North Carolina, Denny (Marie) Pierson of Summersville Lake Road; Children Angie Trivolette, Rex Pierson JR of Drennen, Leslie (Dusty) Taylor of Indore, Patrick (Megan) Duffield of Lizemore. Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren Danielle Pierson, Chandler Trivolette, Levi (Shelby) Taylor, Abby Taylor (Jerry Mullins), Lexi Taylor, Maisie Poore, Jonathan "Bubba" Duffield; Great-Grandchildren Holdyn, and one on the way, Haddy.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to CAMC Memorial Staff and Hubbard Hospice House for the most empathetic care that could ever be provided. They went above and beyond with the care they provided as they helped Rex on his journey home.
Funeral Service for Rex will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 1:00 at Wilson Smith Funeral Home, Clay, WV with a viewing for friends and family one hour prior, from 12:00 to 1:00. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
