Rita L Postlethwait

Rita L. Postlethwait 61, of Ivydale, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2026. She had a long-felt battle with cancer and congestive heart failure. Rita was born on March 25,1965 in Oahu, Hawaii. Rita is the daughter of the late Joseph Anderson and Diana Anderson of Moundsville, West Virginia. She is survived by her beloved partner Varis Canfield, sons Christopher Postlethwait and daughter-in-law Bri of Wheeling WV, Nicholas Postlethwait and daughter-in-law Paige of Mill Creek WV, Stepson Kevin Canfield and daughter-in-law Laura of Clay WV, and sisters Lisa Rowan and Sheila Anderson. She was blessed with 7 beautiful grandchildren, Ellie, Aurora, and Damon Postlethwait. Wyatt, Colt, and Brant Starcher, and Braxton Canfield. Rita had the beautiful opportunity to live in many places around the world like Hawaii and Germany due to her father being in the U.S. Military. She was well known for her creativity, her crafts, her cooking, and her love of making homemade gifts. She was a beloved member of multiple communities including Moundsville WV, Elkins WV and Ivydale WV and will be missed by all. Her memories will live on by those who knew and loved her in life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion and a family who loves her. Those who knew her will forever cherish the moments spent with her and will carry on her memory as a friend, sister, mother, and Grandmother.
