Roger Lee Wriston, 74, better known by his nickname Dynamite, passed away
on Thursday, October 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded
by his loving family. Born in Montgomery, WV on February 14, 1949, to the late
Lawrence and Olive Wriston; they moved to Ohio where he met his wife, Diana.
They fell in love immediately and were married in 1965. They have three
children together: Patricia (Kevin) Filko, Roger, Jr. (Jennifer) and Molly (Kevin)
Naylor; loving grandfather of Joshua Filko, Ariana (Zach) Moss, Katelyn Wriston,
Chelsie (Johnny) Dixon, Zachary, Dylan, and Kyle Naylor; great-grandfather of
Everleigh Moss and Charlotte Dixon. Roger retired from GM after 30 years of
service but was best known as the town mechanic. He was a self-taught mechanic
and auto body man, working on cars with his father since he was eight years old. He
was a long-standing member of American Legion Post 8, Wellington Eagles 2051,
and the VFW Post 6941. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023
from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main Street, Grafton, OH
44044. Graveside service will be in the Reedy Cemetery, Bickmore, WV on
Saturday, October 14 at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the
Wilson Shamblin Smith Funeral Home, 154 Main Street, Clay, West Virginia.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
