Sally Ann Legg, born on August 19, 1951, entered into rest on her 72nd birthday on August 19, 2023.
Sally was born and raised in Widen, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Lee Butcher and Evelyn Ruth Shelton. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her aunt, Betty Tenney, along with countless other cousins and family members.
Sally was a 1969 graduate of Clay County High School. She then attended Charleston Beauty College where she obtained her Cosmetology license. She would continue to do hair for the next 35 years. After retiring from behind the chair, she would then become employed by Mariott for the following 10 years.
Sally loved doing hair, meeting people and singing. She was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church for many years and led the choir along with directing the Christmas and Easter cantatas every year. She was also chosen to sing in the Billy Graham Crusade Choir—one of her most proud moments. She had a flair for life and never knew a stranger. She was loved and adored by many.
She leaves behind her daughters Cortney Leigh Legg and Rebecca Ruth Legg (Graves), along with one granddaughter—her absolute pride and joy, Isabella Ann Graves. Her brother Cecil Lee Butcher II and wife Darlene. Along with her nephew Cecil Lee Butcher III and wife Brittany and niece Brandi Grabrielle Butcher. Special cousins that she loved dearly, Kyra Morgan and Mike Stedham. Also, countless friends who will remember her smile, laughter and long red fingernails.
Viewing for Sally will be Monday, August 28, 2023, at Wilson Smith Funeral Home in Clay, WV from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be Tuesday August 29th, at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark Stump officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay, WV.
