Susan Shreiner Obituary

Susan Gail Baker Shreiner, known affectionately as Gail to her friends and family, passed into the arms of Angels on May 14, 2024, in Dickinson Texas, after a long illness. She entered this world on September 16,1949, in Chicago, Illinois, and throughout her 74 years, she shared an abundance of laughter, love, and creativity with everyone she met.
Gail spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Jacksonville, Florida. Summers were frequently spent at her grandparents’ farm in West Virginia. Those summer days were filled with the warmth of family and the joys of childhood. Her passion for aesthetics and functionality led her to pursue a career in interior design, which she studied with great enthusiasm. Gail's artistic flair was not only evident in her professional work but also shone brightly in her personal life and within the loving home she created for her family.

While Gail worked various jobs throughout her life, she often stated that her most important and cherished role was being a mother. Her dedication to raising her children was unparalleled, and she instilled in them values of kindness, humor, and curiosity. Gail's intelligence and wit were the cornerstones of many family memories, and her creative spirit is a trait that continues to live on through her children and grandchildren.
Gail's infectious laugh was a symbol of her extraordinary joy for life, especially notable in her youth. Those who were fortunate enough to be in her presence would find themselves swept up in her delight, her humor lighting up any room she entered. Gail's sense of fun, combined with her sharp intellect, made her not just the life of the party but also a thoughtful and engaging companion.

Though Gail was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, parents, brother Harry Lee Baker III,
granddaughter Danielle, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her devoted husband, Terry of 46 years, her sister Donna Baker, her children, Lori (married to Drexel), Tina (married to Gary), Melissa (married to Matthew), and Terry Lee Jr and grandchildren, Christina, Trace, Chase, Olivia, Karly and Lacey, her niece Angela (married to Brian) and numerous cousins.

Gail's life was one of connection and service, not just to her family but also to the many friends and
colleagues she encountered throughout her journey. Her ability to make people feel seen and heard was one
of her greatest gifts, and it is this gift that will be missed most by all who knew her.

We take solace in knowing that Gail's struggles are now at an end, and imagine her at peace, surrounded by the beauty and harmony she brought into existence. During her battle with her illness there were numerous health care givers who provided her comfort and treatment. One specific caregiver of the many went above and beyond in many ways and had a bond that was reciprocated by Gail with Stephanie E Burch of Visiting Angels of Southern MD. Gail has now come home to eternal rest in her Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.

Pallbearers are Terry Shreiner Jr, Chase Shreiner, Drexel Short, Trace Short, Matthew Ipsan, and Gary Blalock.
