Terry Lee Duffield, 67, of Newton, WV, passed away after a sudden illness on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, surrounded by those he loved. He was born on December 28, 1957, in Gassaway, WV, to the late Charles Duffield and Anna Elnora (Legg) Duffield. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald and Steve, and his half-brother, Keith.
Terry graduated from Clay County High School in 1976 and attended Glenville State College. A true people-person, Terry spent more than 40 years as a Service Technician with Frontier Communications, where his dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic were well known. He spent many years representing the local CWA Union and Clay County Little League. Outside of work, Terry enjoyed tinkering in his wood shop, listening to music, reading, and spending time outdoors.
Above all else, Terry cherished his family. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Terry Ann (Keiffer) Duffield; his children Megan (Floyd) Cunningham, Nathaniel (Stephanie) Duffield, and Cassandra (Adam) Arbogast; and his stepchildren Whitney (Brandon) Sampson and Caleb King. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Ivan, Stephen, Lila, Willow, Violet, Madilyn, Mallory, and Eli, and step-grandfather to Mckinley, Daniel, and Abigail.
As the oldest sibling, Terry was the unwavering anchor of his family. He is survived by his siblings, Dwayne, Tamela (George) Singleton, Glenn (Lori), Neil (Janice), Deanna (Alan) Dawson, Joy, and Arnold (Jennifer), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Terry’s love of life, laughter, and sense of humor will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Wilson Smith Funeral Home, Clay, WV, visitation two hours prior to the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with Pastor Steve Arbogast officiating. Burial will follow in the Duffield Cemetery, Duck, WV.
