Vernon Wilmoth Obituary

Vernon Kenneth “Kenny” Wilmoth, 76, of Ivydale, passed away peacefully on May 29,
2026.
Born on January 27, 1950, in Ivydale, West Virginia, Kenny was the son of Virginia F.
Cook and the late Vernon C. Wilmoth. A proud patriot, Kenny honorably served his
country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded two Purple
Hearts for his courage and sacrifice.
Kenny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and
friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Workman Wilmoth; his son, Kalvin
(Becky) Wilmoth of Jackson, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Kandy (George) Brown of
Sullivan, Ohio, and Taffy (Jeff) Wellman of Doylestown, Ohio; grandchildren, John
(Mariana) Wilmoth and Leah Wilmoth, both of Jackson, Tennessee; and his cherished
great-grandson, James Wilmoth.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Josh (Alexandria) Wellman, Eric Wellman, and
Laura (Trevor) Haselberger, all of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Grace and Noah
Haselberger; his mother, Virginia Cook of Ivydale, West Virginia; his brother, Ronnie
(Lisa) Wilmoth of Rittman, Ohio; brother-in-law, George (Connie) Workman of Ivydale,
West Virginia; sister-in-law, Susie (John) Sears of Ivydale, West Virginia; and many
beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Vernon C. Wilmoth; stepmother, Sarah
Wilmoth; stepfather, Jim Cook; sister, Susie Douglas; brother, Glen Wilmoth; and
nephews, Eric Workman and Robby John Douglas.
Kenny will be remembered for his love of family, his faithful service to his country, and
the strength and resilience that characterized his life. His presence will be deeply
missed by all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Workman Family Cemetery
on Otter Lick Road on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Kenny’s life and legacy.
