Walter David White, 60, of Wallback, WV, gained his wings on Monday, April 28, 2025.
David, as he was known to all, was born on June 25, 1964, in Charleston. He was the son of the late Richard L. White and Frances K. Rhodes White.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. White of Ovapa and stepson, Joey Kauahi of Kaua’i, HI.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl White, children, Isaac and Lindsay White of Elkview, stepdaughters, Leilani (Robert) Taylor of Procious and Crystal Graham (Richard) of Sandy, UT. Sisters Diana Bullard (Rodney) of Wallback, Amy Moore (Jason) of Lizemores, and Laura Morris (Nathan) of Mineral, VA. Grandchildren Lillian, Amellia, and Maddie Tucker of Procious, and Connor Graham (Nyah) of Sandy, UT. Numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends of the family, Brayden McKinney and Danny Ray Price.
David graduated from Clay County High school and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army. There he would gain his lifelong skill as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Furthering his skills, he was employed with O.V. Smith & Sons for over 20 years. In 2015 his dream was made real when he started Man in the Hat Contracting & Construction, LLC.
David was a man of honor, and his word was his contract. He treated his customers with respect and kindness. He loved his family beyond measure. He will be sorely missed by so many.
Viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Wilson Smith Funeral Home in Clay, WV, and services to follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Haynes officiating. Interment will follow at the Rhodes Cemetery in Maysel.
